The District IX Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee invites you to join us for the Continuous Learning on Equity, Advocacy, and Race in Healthcare (CLEAR) Initiative. The CLEAR Initiative is a continuous education effort to promote systemic equity in healthcare and the health sciences. Decades of evidence demonstrate the role of implicit bias and systemic racism in creating disparities in morbidity and mortality for marginalized communities seeking obstetric and gynecologic care. Through this initiative, we hope that you can further your learning and leverage resources to make changes at your institutions through improving equity curricula and amending policy. The CLEAR Initiative features resources of varying lengths and activities. For more information, please visit our website.

On March 30th  we kicked off our month-long initiative.  If you couldn't join us, the video has been uploaded to this discussion post. "A Quest for Equity in Healthcare: A Path Forward" with Dr. Carolina Reyes reviewed the research and policy strategies since IOM's https://nap.nationalacademies.org/catalog/12875/unequal-treatment-confronting-racial-and-ethnic-disparities-in-health-care Click to follow link." target="_blank" rel="noopener">Unequal Treatment's publication and empowers us to advocate for structural reforms. Our website additionally features several On Demand webinars on related topics such as The Trauma of Racism in Maternal Health and Healthcare or History of Racism in Gynecology: What You Wish You Learned in Residency. These are available for personal educational viewing, sharing at departmental grand rounds, or incorporated in resident didactic sessions.

We sincerely hope that you join us this April for this important and timely initiative. Please reach out to cmccormick@acog.org with any questions.
